FAQ

Spray Dryer FAQ

Answers to the questions buyers ask most often about choosing, testing and buying a spray dryer.

01

Choosing a spray dryer

Which atomizer should I choose?

It depends on the powder you need. Centrifugal atomizers give 25–80 µm powder with a narrow distribution and the lowest energy use. Pressure nozzles give coarser 48–250 µm powder that pours and dissolves well. Two-fluid nozzles give the finest 5–50 µm powder. We confirm the choice with a test on your sample.

What capacities can you build?

From 5–20 kg/h lab and pilot units up to production dryers with 10–15 t/h water evaporation. A single centrifugal atomizer handles spray rates from 2 kg/h to 60 t/h, and our pressure spray dryers reach 20 t/h.

Do you publish a model list with fixed specifications?

No. Every dryer is sized to the material, capacity and site. Send us your material details and we size the dryer for you.

Can you dry materials in organic solvents?

Yes, in a closed-loop spray dryer with nitrogen as the drying gas. The solvent is condensed and recovered.

What heat sources can you use?

Steam, electric heating, natural gas, diesel, thermal oil or biomass burners, depending on the site and the product.

02

Testing

Can you test my material before I order?

Yes. Our test center runs feasibility trials on lab and pilot spray dryers and sends you the powder with a report of the process parameters.

What information do you need for a quotation?

Material and its use, solids content, required capacity, target moisture and particle size, and the heat source available on site.

03

Delivery and service

How long does delivery take?

Average delivery is 60 days from design approval. Large or multi-stage plants take longer; we confirm the schedule with the quotation.

Do you install and commission the dryer?

Our installation team covers mechanical, electrical and site work, followed by commissioning and after-sales service.

Can the control system be in my language?

Yes. Control interfaces can be designed to support multiple languages, from PLC touch screens to full DCS control.
