Protein Powder Spray Dryer

Pressure and centrifugal spray dryers for whey, casein, plant protein and collagen peptides. Short drying times protect solubility and bioactivity.

Why pressure drying

Bigger particles dissolve faster.

Pressure nozzles make particles of about 100–300 µm. Their lower surface area lets water penetrate quickly, so the powder floats and clumps less. Centrifugal drying gives finer 50–150 µm particles that trap air and need harder stirring.

Short drying times reduce the risk of protein denaturation and lower energy use. The pressure system is simple to maintain, and anti-caking agents such as silica or maltodextrin can be mixed into the feed.

  • Faster wetting, less clumping
  • Shorter drying protects solubility and bioactivity
  • Lower equipment and maintenance cost
  • Pressure (10–50 MPa) tunes droplet size
  • Dual CIP tanks for hygienic cleaning

FAQ

Questions about this application

Pressure or centrifugal for protein powder?

Pressure nozzles give coarser 100–300 µm particles that dissolve faster, so they suit most protein powders. Centrifugal drying gives finer 50–150 µm powder. We test your protein on both if needed.

How do you avoid denaturation?

By keeping drying times short and setting inlet and outlet temperatures to the protein. In the reference plant the outlet air runs at 90 °C.

Can the dryer be cleaned in place?

Yes. CIP systems with tanks and telescopic cleaning heads clean the tower and ducts without dismantling.
